Expectant parents are welcome to visit our childbirth unit, including labor and delivery rooms, post partum and the nurseries. Our staff members will be your hosts; no registration is necessary. To join us, just meet in the main lobby of Bryan Medical Plaza, East site, 1500 S. 48th St. Tours last about 30-45 minutes.
Tours are given Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 3 p.m.

($65 per couple for three-week session)
Begin your journey through birth and beyond with this family-centered childbirth series. Topics include: labor process, pain management, c-sections, basic breathing and relaxation, the role of birth coach, mother postpartum care, initial baby care and a tour. Classes are usually taken during the sixth to seventh month of pregnancy.
Classes are offered on Sundays, 6-8:30 p.m.; Mondays, 7-9:30 p.m.; or Tuesdays, 7-9:30 p.m. To register, please visit the Calendar of Events.

Essentials of Childbirth Accelerated
($65 per couple)
Complete the Essentials of Birth and Baby Care class in one day! This fast-paced day covers all the content of the regular class, and includes a tour.

Breastfeeding Basics
($20 per couple)
This single session class emphasizes basic breastfeeding techniques. BryanLGH lactation consultants will address the breastfeeding cycle, nursing aids, nursing positions, latch and more. Your spouse/partner is encouraged to attend.

Super Siblings
($10 for one child, $20 for two or more children)
A baby is coming! For mom and dad, it's a happy event. Big brother and sister, however, may view this new arrival with questionable enthusiasm or feelings of loss. But siblings at BryanLGH Medical Center won't feel left out because this class includes them in the birth process.

CPR for Family and Friends
($20 per person)
For parents and expectant parents. This course teaches infant/pediatric/adult CPR with emphasis on infant and airway obstruction relief. Time needed to cover course content may vary based on class size.

Infant Massage
($20 per couple)
Infant massage provides a unique opportunity for parents to bond with their babies and stimulate blood flow, aid digestion, ease constipation, and help with muscle relaxation. Join Mary Seger-Barker, MSN, RN, Certified Infant Massage Instructor, to learn more about proper techniques and the benefits of infant massage. This class is designed for expectant parents. Participants are asked to bring a stuffed animal to class to practice massage techniques. Participants receive a laminated set of reference cards and a small bottle of massage oil.

This is a childbirth class for parents that are expecting twins, triplets, or more. Course includes an overview of what to expect with a vaginal and/or c-section birth, NICU tour, breastfeeding and care of near-term or preterm infants. A panel of experts (parents who have lived the experience) will be present for a question and answer session.

Essentials of Childbirth Refresher
($20 per couple)
This one-night class is a refresher for expectant couples on the process of labor, interventions, comfort techniques, infant safety procedures, and provides a tour of our new Family Birthplace in the Women's and Children's Health Tower. This course is designed for those who have previously taken a childbirth education course.

Advanced Breathing and Relaxation for Childbirth
($20 per couple)
This course is intended for expectant parents who plan to go though childbirth without an epidural or other pain medication. We recommend the Essentials of Childbirth class as a pre-requisite.
