A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Coatsworth attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and went on to the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, where he received his medical degree with high distinction. He then attended the University of Iowa for both his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology, where he served as Chief Fellow in Cardiology.
Dr. Coatsworth is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine Subspecialty Board of Cardiovascular Diseases. He has achieved fellowship status with the American College of Cardiology, Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, and the American Heart Association Clinical Council.
