The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at BryanLGH Medical Center is led by a board-certified neonatologist and a highly trained, multidisciplinary team from nursing, radiology, respiratory therapy, anesthesia, lab and more. Features of this unit, which is specially designed to care for our sickest newborns include:
Lighting and sound engineering that create the optimum environment for the development and comfort of these babies.
Heated panels above the sinks warm the area, when babies are big enough for bathing.
Each patient room has a family area that can be separated with a privacy curtain. A sleeper sofa offers a place to rest or to spend the night if desired. A private refrigerator stores a mother's breast milk or the parents' beverages.
The first floor of the Institute for Women's and Children's Health offers a NICU family area where parents can shower or do laundry.
